Discover Yesterday's Farm

A collection of Wood Dale’s historical documents, photographs, and stories is preserved by the Wood Dale Historical Society at the Rosenwinkel Memorial Farm (Yesterday's Farm) to highlight the town’s rich past. The society is dedicated to presenting dynamic exhibits, engaging lectures, and interactive workshops to bring the history of the farm and the local heritage to life for visitors of all ages.

Our Mission and Vision

The Wood Dale Historical Society was founded on July 9 of 1971 by 41 charter members with Mary Lou Mittel elected as the first President and Curator. A number of members were instrumental in the organization of the library and park district for Wood Dale as well.

In 1972 the house and grounds of Adolph and Esther Rosenwinkel were donated to the Wood Dale Historical Society by Esther Rosenwinkel. The museum is a memorial to the Rosenwinkel family and our city's forefathers. The outbuildings and additional lands were donated to the Society by the developers of Forest Creek, the Illinois Industrial Properties and Mr. John Stoetzel (personally) in 1982.

The buildings consist of the original farmhouse built by the Newton family circa 1840, a 1922 American Foursquare farm house now housing the museum, a red "Peg" barn that was built in the 1850's, a Carriage House; built shortly after the main barn and a 1950's garage.

The Society owns and displays a number of old and antique pieces of farm equipment. A restored 1929 "David Bradley" Grain Wagon, a 1953 Allis Chalmers Tractor, two Hay Wagons built by members and several pieces of farm machinery from various farming eras.

The Wood Dale Historical Society in Wood Dale, IL is a local organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the history of the area. They aim to educate and engage the public through exhibits, events, and educational programs, ensuring that the history of Wood Dale is not forgotten.
